Tip #13: Own Your Dreams

No person has the right to rain on your dreams.”
-Marian Wright Edelman

Dreams live within our hearts. They are fueled by the purest form of human passion. Yet, they can feel so ephemeral.

Now, acknowledge a dream. Say them out loud. Have you ever said a dream aloud? Write a dream on a beautiful piece of paper and keep it in a prominent spot. Mindfully attend to it. Know your dreams. Say your dreams. See your dreams. Nothing can take a dream away from you - ever.

Honor your dreams. Realize that YOU deserve them. YOU deserve happiness. Protect that knowledge within your heart. YOU are that important.

We all have dreams within us — sometimes they can be a bit buried within us (but they are still there). Know your dreams and cherish them.

“I was finally allowed to return home…. My hope was to resume schooling at a local university while continuing my follow-up care. Unfortunately, I wasn’t yet well enough. I did, however, continue to study on my own for the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT). I was determined to take the test at the same time as the rest of my classmates. Though the effects of my treatment made it difficult to concentrate even on TV, I tried my best to study each day…. The day that I took the test was the first day I was able to stay awake for eight hours in a row — a day of triumph! When I found out I had scored high enough to be accepted into medical school, I knew I had begun to get myself on track.”
