Tip #42: Jump For Joy
I feel like a tiny bird with a big song!”
-Jerry Van Amerongen
As kids, jumping for joy comes simply as a spontaneous reaction to something good. Whether it’s the mention of an ice-cream sundae, or being told that school is out for the day due to heavy snowfalls, kids can jump for joy spontaneously, vigorously, and with enthusiasm leaving you without a doubt as to how they are feeling.
Now, let your soul jump for joy! Do something that you know will bring you a sweet sense of pleasure. It doesn’t have to be anything huge or even time-consuming. It can be a chocolate treat, enjoyed without guilt. It could be a quiet retreat down memory lane, just for 5 or 10 minutes. It could entail picking up the phone and calling an old friend that you may have lost touch with. Walk outside with the fresh air whirling around you and feel the buzz of nature as the clouds drift by and birds swoop and dive, enjoying their own thrill of freedom and flight. Just experience that joy that is so intense that your soul is spontaneously inspired to jump.
